In his 2017 book another outstanding IR scholar Graham Alison described US-China relations as a typical Thucydides ‘trap, questioning the possibility of war between these two great powers. Since that this question became even more critical in terms of growing US-China tensions. The lecture and discussion will cover different aspects of the current contradiction between Washington through the prism of classical and modern concepts of power transition as well as testing some alternative explanations and projections for the US-China relations in the XXI century.
